QuantumShift, a pioneering initiative by KPMG Private Enterprise and Ivey Business School, has significantly influenced Canada’s entrepreneurial landscape over the past twenty years. Designed to address critical growth challenges, the programme harnesses KPMG’s vast business insights and Ivey’s academic excellence, providing an unparalleled learning experience for high-potential entrepreneurs. The programme has successfully engaged over 840 entrepreneurs, enhanced leadership, facilitated business transformations, and led to increased profitability and market expansion.

In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, the ability to innovate and adapt is crucial for sustained success.  Ivey entrepreneurship Professor Eric Morse, now Executive Director of the Western Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship, was teaching an executive development programme for KPMG where he met Dave Cook, who at the time was a partner with KPMG’s Enterprise practice. The two discussed how each of their organisations had resources to support entrepreneurs but needed a different approach to drive transformative impact.

Together, they have crafted a programme that for 20 years has stood as a beacon of innovation in entrepreneurial education.

The QuantumShift™’s programme design offers a comprehensive, 5-day intensive workshop that challenges entrepreneurs to think critically and strategically. The curriculum includes a blend of case studies, peer-to-peer learning, and sessions led by industry experts, focusing on areas such as strategic growth, innovation, and leadership. QuantumShift™ places a strong emphasis on its alumni community, recognising that ongoing support and networking are vital for sustained success. The alumni network facilitates continuous learning, collaboration, and business opportunities. Peer-to-peer support sessions, and annual alumni events help individuals maintain connections they made while in the programme and enables new connections with alumni across all classes, providing alumni with resources and support long after they have completed the programme.

Measuring Impact & Success

QuantumShift™ uses a rigorous evaluation process to measure its learning outcomes and impact. Immediate post-programme surveys reveal that participants experience a 15% average increase in confidence across various leadership and strategic domains. Mid-term assessments, conducted six months post-programme, show that 94% of alumni have applied their learnings to their businesses, with 85% reporting positive results. Long-term surveys of alumni indicate sustained business growth, with 62.74% experiencing revenue increases and 56.86% seeing a rise in market share that they attribute directly to their learnings in the programme and the QuantumShift™ community.
